Assure Personnel are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of our well-established client. This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-growing, dynamic leisure business as a key member of its senior management team. The company is vibrant, forward-thinking, and has experienced impressive growth in recent years. With this upward trajectory set to continue, the business is now seeking to strengthen its leadership team with the appointment of a driven, hands-on Financial Controller.
This is a pivotal role offering genuine influence across the organisation, supporting strategic
decision-making while ensuring robust financial control during an ambitious phase of
expansion.
Key Responsibilities
- Overseeing the day-to-day running of the finance department, managing and
developing a capable small team - Preparation of monthly management accounts, including detailed commentary and
variance analysis - Partnering with the senior leadership team to provide strategic insight and financial
guidance - Cashflow forecasting and working capital management
- Ensuring the accuracy and integrity of payroll and creditor payments
- Leading credit control activities and optimising debtor performance
- Managing relationships with key external stakeholders, including auditors and
advisors - Acting as the business lead for HR, IT, Health & Safety, VAT, and insurance matters
- Preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts
- Analysing workshop return rates and labour efficiency to support operational
performance - Developing and improving financial systems, controls, and business processes to
support growth and drive efficiencies
What We’re Looking For:
The successful candidate will be commercially minded, proactive, and comfortable operating
both strategically and hands-on within a growing SME environment.
- Qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA), part-qualified, or qualified by experience
- Proven track record in a similar Financial Controller or senior finance role
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to translate financial information for non
financial stakeholders - Experience working closely with senior leadership teams
- Confident communicator with the ability to influence and challenge constructively
- Highly organised, self-motivated, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment
Experience within leisure, manufacturing, engineering, or a similar operational
business would be advantageous, though not essential.
